Seti I was an Egyptian King who ruled in the 19th Dynasty (1292-1190 BCE) and he reigned for short span of eleven years from 1290-1279 BCE. Ramses I was his father who ruled for two years only and it was Seti I who was able to restore Egypt to its former glory (p. 215). Seti I’s domestic policies were such that it lasted throughout the reign of his son Rameses II. He started enormous building programs and there were a large number of builders and sculptors that were pit into the restoration of temples that were not repaired from the time of Akhenaten’s days. One of the major projects undertaken by Sety I was the temple at Abydos. It was built at the site of the main cult of God Osiris. Sety constructed a massive sanctuary that was his mortuary temple and there were also six shrines for the main Gods of Egypt (p. 215).
